With Joao Pedro (£5.6m) all but ruled out of Brighton and Hove Albion's Gameweek 6 trip to Chelsea this Saturday, heavy sales of the forward are expected in Fantasy Premier League.

The Brazilian, who has already been sold by over 432,000 managers, sustained an injury in last Sunday's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Speaking in Thursday's pre-match press conference, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said: “Joao had some problems after the game, he still has some problems. You have to go week to week with him but I don’t think that he will be an option for the weekend."

Here, The Scout reveals the best replacements for the injured Seagulls star.

Wood and Calvert-Lewin the top picks

Should Joao Pedro owners have a spare £0.5m in the bank, then Chris Wood (£6.1m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) are the obvious targets.

These two talismanic strikers have each had 11 shots in the box this season. Among sub-£6.5m forwards, only Rodrigo Muniz (£5.9m) - who now seems to have lost his place at Fulham - has had more.

Wood is also top among similarly priced forwards for big chances, with six.

The New Zealand international is certainly the man in form after scoring 14 goals in 21 starts under Nuno Espirito Santo.

But Calvert-Lewin has quietly been going about his business, too. He's found the net on six occasions in his last dozen Premier League outings.

Crucially, both strikers have some appealing fixtures to come.

Four of Wood's next five matches are rated as a two on the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR).

Calvert-Lewin has an even more favourable fixture run, with none of his next nine opponents ranking any higher than three on the FDR.

Other options

For those managers who can't upgrade Joao Pedro, then Jorgen Strand Larsen (£5.5m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.4m) are worth considering.

Strand Larsen and Wolverhampton Wanderers have had one of the toughest starts to the season in terms of fixture difficulty. Yet, the Norwegian striker has had as many big chances - four - as Calvert-Lewin.

Wolves still have some tricky tests to come but Fantasy managers may consider Strand Larsen as part of a rotation with Morgan Rogers (£5.2m).

When Aston Villa's budget midfielder encounters big-six clubs in Gameweeks 7, 10, 11, 13 and 17, Wolves have five fixtures that score two on the FDR.

Jimenez, meanwhile, has scored in consecutive matches since regaining his place in the Fulham starting XI.

He's had an eye-catching six shots in the box and three big chances in those fixtures.

Of the FPL forwards who have started at least one match this season, only Southampton's Cameron Archer (£5.0m) is cheaper than Jimenez.
