Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is now outright eighth on the all-time Premier League goalscorers' list following his strike against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

His 164th goal in the competition took him above Reds great Robbie Fowler, with Thierry Henry's total of 175 now his next target.

All-time top 10 Premier League goalscorers
Rank Player Goals Matches
1 Alan Shearer 260 441
2 Harry Kane 213 320
3 Wayne Rooney 208 491
4 Andrew Cole 187 414
5 Sergio Aguero 184 275
6 Frank Lampard 177 609
7 Thierry Henry 175 258
8 Mohamed Salah 164 273
9 Robbie Fowler 163 379
10 Jermain Defoe 162 496

Salah, who has scored seven goals in 10 matches this season, overtakes Fowler having made 106 FEWER appearances than the former Liverpool striker.

Salah has already moved up eight places in the all-time goalscorers' chart since the start of last season, and at his current rate of scoring he would overtake both Henry and sixth-placed Frank Lampard before the end of this campaign.

What makes Salah's achievement of being in the top 10 all the more impressive is that he is one of only two players in the top 10 who is not an out-and-out striker, along with Lampard.

He has also made the second-fewest appearances among the top 10, and he has the fourth-highest tally for goals per 90 minutes, while he has the third-most assists of all these elite goalscorers.

Speaking on Saturday, the Premier League's record goalscorer Alan Shearer was full of praise for the Liverpool winger.

"He's been a great of the Premier League," said Shearer. "He's an incredible player and a world-class goalscorer."

It's the latest achievement of a remarkable Premier League career for Salah.

He has scored 53 more goals than any other African player. He leads the way for the most left-footed goals, with 132, and he is on course to become the first player in Premier League history to register 10 or more goals and 10 or more assists in SIX different seasons, having managed seven goals and five assists over the opening 10 Matchweeks.

The 32-year-old's exploits this season continue his longevity of Premier League success. He has won the Golden Boot on three occasions, in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2021/22, and he has been among the top seven scorers in each of the past seven seasons.

'We're back where we belong'

Salah's latest goal, combined with Manchester City's defeat at AFC Bournemouth, put Liverpool back on top of the Premier League table at the weekend.

The Egyptian posted on social media that first place is where Liverpool belong.

"Top of the table is where this club belongs," Salah said. "Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only one champion in the end. That’s what we want. Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like."

Liverpool supporters will be hoping this message is not an omen regarding Salah's future, given he is out of contract at the end of the season.
