Manager Bio

Julen Lopetegui took over as West Ham United 's head coach on 1 July 2024, having been appointed as successor to David Moyes.

This is the 57-year-old's second spell in the Premier League, having previously been at Wolverhampton Wanderers from November 2022 to August 2023.

Wolves were bottom of the Premier League when he joined but Lopetegui won his first match in charge, at Everton, and went on to lead them to a 13th-place finish.

He and the club parted company ahead of the 2023/24 season due to differences of opinion.

The Spaniard was manager of Sevilla before joining Wolves, leading them into the UEFA Champions League and winning the Europa League in 2019/20.

Before that he was head coach of Real Madrid and, prior to that, spent two years as manager of the Spain national team, a position he held after impressing in a two-year stint at Porto.

Lopetegui enjoyed a long playing career as a goalkeeper, making 149 appearances in LaLiga, representing both Real Madrid and Barcelona. He was capped once by Spain.

He joins a West Ham team that finished the 2023/24 season in ninth spot with 52 points.
