Manager Bio

Sean Dyche returned to the Premier League when he was appointed manager of Everton on 30 January 2023.

Kettering-born Dyche started his playing career in the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest before joining Chesterfield in 1990.

The defender made over 250 appearances, captained the club and scored in their famous FA Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough in 1997.

Bristol City signed Dyche in the summer of 1997 and he helped the club gain promotion to the Championship in his first season.

Following a brief loan spell with Luton Town, Dyche joined Millwall in 1999 and also achieved promotion to the Championship with the London club.

He signed for Watford in 2002 and captained them during the 2004/05 season.

That was to be his last season as a player with the club and he signed for Northampton Town before retiring in 2007.

Dyche’s coaching career started with Watford’s youth team shortly after and he soon made his way up to assistant manager under Malky Mackay.

Mackay left Watford ahead of the 2011/12 season and Dyche was promoted to Watford manager in June 2011, his first match coming against Burnley at Turf Moor. He would leave them the following year.

Burnley announced Dyche as their manager in October 2012 and he guided them to a second-place finish in 2013/14, securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Dyche was unable to keep the Clarets in the top-flight, but secured them an immediate return, as Championship winners in 2015/16.

Burnley came 16th the following season before their best-ever PL finish of seventh in 2017/18.

Dyche preserved the Clarets' Premier League status with 15th, 10th and 17th-placed finishes and twice won the Barclays Manager of the Month award.

He left Turf Moor in April 2022, with the club in 18th, four points from safety.

Dyche returned to the Premier League in January 2023 and helped Everton to safety, culminating with a 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth on the final day.

Everton boasted one of the most reliable defences in the Premier League in 2023/24, their first full season under Dyche.

The Toffees totalled 13 clean sheets - including a league-high nine at home - to rank joint-second alongside champions Manchester City for shutouts as they finished in 15th place.
